Doctor: Targeted Supplement Decreases Blood Sugar Level

By S.A. Nickerson, Health Correspondent

Recent medical breakthroughs in the health supplement industry are having a tremendous impact on the nation’s high blood sugar level epidemic.

79 million American adults have blood sugar levels that, while still in the normal range, are too high — posing a threat for further issues such as prediabetes and obesity.

“High blood sugar is, in my opinion, the number one health crisis facing us today in the United States,” says David Brownstein, M.D., one of the nation's foremost medical physicians using predominantly natural strategies.

“We suffer more in the U.S. from the numerous conditions related to high blood sugar than people in any other country in the world,” he says.

According to Dr. Brownstein, common warning signs a person has a high sugar level include thirst, cotton mouth, frequent urination, blurry vision, weight loss, fatigue, itchy skin, and increased appetite.

Blood sugar level is a measurement of the amount of sugar (glucose) that is present in a person’s blood. Glucose is necessary as it provides energy to the body’s cells. However, having a blood sugar level that is too high (hyperglycemia) or too low (hypoglycemia) can cause a great range of health issues from seizures to diabetes.

Dr. Brownstein says a person’s blood sugar level changes throughout the day. It is usually lowest at the beginning of the day (fasting level) before one eats. The level will rise for about an hour or two following a meal.

A normal blood test result should range between 70-130 (md/dL) before meals and less than 180 (mg/dL) afterwards.

Dr. Brownstein says diet and exercise can play a significant role in maintaining a healthy blood sugar level.

He recommends avoiding bad carbohydrates, like white breads, sodas, and processed foods, and eating low glycemic foods such as beans, barley, oats, and acidic fruits instead.

Dr. Brownstein also suggests eating frequently. Spreading meals evenly throughout the day boosts the metabolism and helps keep blood sugar levels under control.

And exercising helps the body burn stored sugar for energy which can help bring blood sugar levels down.

However, even with the perfect diet and fitness regimen, some people need a little something extra to manage their blood sugar levels.

“Natural supplements, along with proper diet and exercise, give you the best chance to balance out your blood sugar over the long term,” says Dr. Brownstein.

“They’ll help keep you feeling young, active, and healthier for life, without the fatigue, mood swings, jittery feelings, or food cravings common to blood sugar problems,” he says.

Dr. Brownstein recommends finding an all-natural supplement that contains ingredients such as bitter melon, fenugreek, Silbinol, gymnema sylvestre, banaba leaf extract, and vitamin B.

“High blood sugar is no joke — this is something you need to take seriously,” says Dr. Brownstein.

“Many people have absolutely no symptoms with high blood sugar — until it's too late, so try to keep your blood sugar levels normal the natural way,” he says.
