Vitamin B6 and Cardio Health

Vitamin B6 (Pyroxidine) is a life or death vitamin. It plays a pivotal role in regulating the chemical reaction of proteins and producing hemoglobin, which helps carry oxygen to red blood cells. Without vitamin B6, a person would die.

Vitamin B6 is found in nuts, poultry, fish, whole grains, bananas, meat, and beans. All B vitamins assist the body in breaking down carbohydrates and converting them into glucose (sugar) which generates energy.

Vitamin B6 produces several neurotransmitters, the chemicals that carry signals from one cell to another. B6 is essential for normal brain function, and helps the body produce the serotonin and norepinephrine hormones, which impact mood. And it also helps create melatonin, which regulates a person’s sleep-wake cycle.

Although vitamin B6 deficiency is rare, symptoms include muscle weakness, irritability, depression, nervousness, difficulty concentrating, and memory loss.
